The sounds of Country Blues will grace the stage as Rhythm & Brews, presented by Horizon Heating & Air, returns to South Main Street THIS THURSDAY, September 19.  Vaden Landers takes center stage, with The Mattocks-Johnson Band opening the show.

On the third Thursday, June through October, these free outdoor shows ramp up downtown fun, complete with craft beverages, food trucks and kids’ activities. Also contributing to the presentation of this concert series are Norm’s Minit Mart, We Sell WNC, Parks Ford, Van Winkle Law Firm, BGW CPA, The Salty Landing, Rock Creek Containers, Yoga and Massage and Joyce Windows, Sunrooms & Baths. Rhythm & Brews and the Friends of Downtown Hendersonville have also received generous support from the Henderson County Tourism Development Authority.

As the premier live music series of Hendersonville, Rhythm & Brews brings in a variety of established acts as well as up-and-coming artists from around the region. Whether you love soul, rock, bluegrass, funky stuff and now country, this popular show will put a smile on your face and broaden your musical horizons.

Headliner: Vaden Landers hails from the enchanting landscapes of Eastern Tennessee. This burgeoning talent is a 28-year-old artist weaving a tapestry of melodies that harken back to the golden era of country music. With a voice that channels the spirit of Hank Williams Sr., Vaden’s journey began as a train-hopping troubadour and street-busker, crafting songs that resonate with the very soul of Americana.

Opening Act: The Mattocks-Johnson Band was formed when Bill Mattocks, nationally known for his vocals, harmonica and guitar, joined forces with Hendersonville’s Howie Johnson. Howie is one of the most sought-after lead guitarists in Western North Carolina and a master of the Slide Guitar. With Howie’s son Harlan Johnson on drums and John Brookshire on electric bass, this band will quickly become one of your favorites performing Danceable Blues, Blues Rock, Classic Rock and original tunes.

Opening acts will kick off each evening at 5:30 p.m. followed by the headliner performance from around 7:30-9:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:15 p.m.

For the youngest in the family, the Hendersonville Honeycrisps & the Hendersonville Toy Company Kid Zone will provide kid-friendly fun. Meanwhile, adults can enjoy downtown Hendersonville’s first fully integrated beer, cider and wine garden featuring locally crafted drinks from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Bold Rock Hard Cider, Guidon Brewing Co., Oklawaha Brewing Co., Dry Falls Brewery, Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards, and Flat Rock Cider Company.

Come hungry! There will be an assortment of some of Hendersonville’s best food trucks and food vendors, including Daddy D’s on Wheels, Heidi Ho on the Go, Carolina Ace BBQ, Flat Rock Wood Fired Pizzas, Mini Batch Bakery, The Underground Baking Bretzel Bus, Kernel Mike’s Kettle Corn, Baabal’s Ice Cream and The Porkskins Crew.

Please leave your pets and coolers at home. Chairs are allowed on the Wells Fargo side of the event near the Kids Zone. There are several free and paid parking options available near the show, with the closest paid parking in the private lot at Barnwell and Main (access only from King Street), and free on-street parking outside of Church and King Streets.

All net proceeds from the event benefit the Friends of Downtown Hendersonville 501c3 nonprofit, whose mission is to identify, preserve and enhance the key factors that contribute to the authentic small town urban character of historic downtown Hendersonville. In recent years, the Friends of Downtown Hendersonville has supported downtown businesses with over $40,000 in direct business support through the façade and pivot grant programs.
