The Carl Sandburg home has re-opened.
The grounds, barn, bookstore and trails are all accessible.
Tour guides gave the first house tour at 1 p.m. Monday afternoon.
But due to the impacts of the storm, the naturalization ceremony scheduled for Tuesday is canceled.
CHIMNEY ROCK PARK
Chimney Rock Park is set to reopen Tuesday after being closed since Friday because of Florence.
On Monday crews removed one large tree from the roadway and cleared several trails.
The park's general manager Mary Jaeger-Gale said previous repairs from the storms in May held up during this latest round of rain.
BLUIE RIDGE PARKWAY
On Monday, most of the Blue Ridge Parkway remains closed in the wake of Florence.
Rangers shut down the entire scenic highway Friday night in anticipation of storm damage.
In the Asheville area, a 3-mile stretch from the Folk Art Center to Highway 74-A has reopened.
The southernmost end of the parkway near Cherokee has also reopened.
A spokeswoman says parkway officials hope to reopen more sections soon.
