A familiar name in the Western North Carolina and Upstate toy scene has opened another shop.

O.P. Taylor’s toy store has just opened in Hendersonville in the former Dancing Bear Toys location on Main Street. The space is smaller than its locations in Brevard and Greenville, but it's packed with toys.

Owner John Taylor said customers and other merchants have given them a warm welcome.

"We're thrilled with the reception we've gotten here in Hendersonville. Everybody's been so gracious and so happy that there's still a small toy store in downtown Hendersonville," Taylor said.

The upper level of the store was renovated before O.P. Taylor's opened. Taylor plans to expand into a lower level in the fall, once that area has gotten a makeover.

According to Taylor, O.P. Taylor’s in Biltmore Park Town Square closed in April after Biltmore Farms, a developer of Biltmore Park Town Square, opted not to renew the toy shop’s lease.
