COULD SAVE LAUREL PARK WATER CUSTOMERS $16 PER MONTH
Laurel Park Town Council this week took another step toward merging its water and sewer system with the City of Hendersonville’s system.
Town Council voted unanimously to authorize the town manager to proceed with any additional background research and to start negotiation with the City of Hendersonville,
Laurel Park already relies on the city’s system for its water supply, and merging the two systems will free up the Town from the expense of operating and maintaining it’s on system...which, estimates are, could save Laurel Park residents more than $16 per month on their water bills.
The system now owned and operated by Laurel Park serves 819 customers within the Town limits and consists of eight water tanks and six pump stations as well as 23 miles of water lines.
After receiving a grant back in 2016 to look into the possibility of a merger, the Town hired an engineering firm to look into it...and that firm found that if the Town continued to own and operate its own system, the cost of doing it could be more than $50 per customer by 2022.
