The Lake Lure Inn, a historic landmark built nearly 100 years ago in 1927, has sold for over $11 million.
The inn was sold to an Atlanta-based boutique hotel investment group named Ridgeline Acquisitions LLC. The iconic 72-room hotel will remain open during any future renovations.
"The rooms, I think, will probably get an update," said George Carter of Dwell Realty Group. "I think based on the buyer's other projects, they're going to make things more streamlined, more of a modern look."
The property includes a pool, an arcade of retail suites and more. Calvin Coolidge, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Franklin Roosevelt are among the esteemed guests who have visited the inn.
Movie fans know the property as one of the locations for the 1987 film "Dirty Dancing."
The inn's former owner George Wittmer said he and his wife Hope loved owning the Lake Lure Inn.
"Hope and I are grateful to our dedicated staff, many who have been with us since the beginning... We are confident that the Lake Lure Inn and Town Center will continue to thrive," said Wittmer.
