Henderson County Commissioners proudly announced the $4.7 Million remodeled Hedrick Rhodes VFW Post 520 grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the building at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 3. Tours for the general public will follow the ribbon cutting.
Henderson County commissioners purchased the building from the VFW and remodeled into what will become VFW offices along with space for community gatherings.'
The new building will also feature a permanent "Wall of Honor" to display medals of any and all Henderson County Veterans as a free service.
The building will also headquarter two veteran service officers to assist Henderson County veterans.
The grand opening hopes to draw all local residents interested in this latest county preservation effort.
The community is invited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony and show their support for our veterans. The building will be open for a tour following the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Henderson County acquired the building from the VFW for $35,635 in April 2021 and appropriated $4.7 million in American Rescue Plan money to pay for the renovation.
