When the holiday season comes to a close, Henderson County residents are encouraged to recycle their live Christmas trees and wreaths.
A recycling event will be held at Jackson Park from Jan. 6-10, 2025, for residents to drop off their trees. Residents can also return to the park on Jan. 11, 2025, between noon and 4 p.m. to load up on mulch. This will take place at Ball Field #6.
In addition to tree recycling, the Henderson County 4-H Club will be collecting holiday lights as a fundraiser for their programs. Residents are invited to bring holiday lights in any working condition to support the club's young farmers.
Asheville residents can place their Christmas trees at the curb for regular brush collection after the holiday season.
Christmas trees can also be dropped off at the Buncombe County Landfill for residents in Asheville and Buncombe County. Residents can also drop them off at a private yard waste facility.
Asheville officials also remind residents to remove all lights, ornaments and stands from trees before placing them at the curb for pickup. Additionally, officials advise residents to avoid mixing trees with storm debris to ensure it is collected properly.
