On Friday, June 28, 2024, Lafoy Ball Jr., 57, of Hendersonville N.C. pled guilty to three Felony
Larcenies, one additional Felony Larceny from a Construction Site, and admitted his status as a
Habitual Felon. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Peter Knight presided over the sentencing
hearing and sentenced the defendant to a consolidated active sentence of 110 months minimum
and 144 months maximum in prison.

According to court records and the sentencing hearing, on Sep. 19, 2022, deputies from the
Henderson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in reference to a larceny that had occurred
on Sep. 18, 2022. Upon arrival, deputies met with a representative for the contracting company
who stated that on Sep. 18, 2022, a Ford F-150 arrived at Moore and Son Site Contractors and
proceeded to load 25 Zip Boards used for sheathing into the bed of the truck and departed the
site. The person that removed the zip boards did not have permission to remove them. Deputies
reviewed surveillance footage from the construction site where they observed Ball, who was
familiar to them, in the passenger side of a gold in color Ford F-150 and leaving with the zip
boards.

On Sep. 19, 2022, before the incident had been reported, deputies arrested Ball on charges
unrelated to the one listed above. During the arrest deputies observed Ball in a gold Ford F-150
matching the description of the vehicle seen in video obtained from the construction site.
Deputies also spotted zip boards in the bed of the truck. Based on this information, deputies were
able to obtain a warrant for Felony Larceny from a Construction Site and Felony Possession of
Stolen Goods. Upon arrival to Ball’s residence, deputies explained the reason law enforcement
was at the residence and asked the defendant about the stolen goods. After informing the
defendant that there was surveillance of him removing and exiting with the zip boards from a
construction site, Ball admitted to taking the zip boards and stated that he had sold them to an
unknown individual in South Carolina and that he was unable to reach the individual.

After speaking with detectives, Ball granted law enforcement permission to go inside the garage
where they observed the gold Ford F-150 parked without zip boards in the bed. Deputies then
placed Ball under arrest and transported him to the Henderson County Jail.

During the hearing for the above charges, Ball also admitted to his status as a Habitual Felon, a
status which requires the defendant to have three separate and distinct prior felony convictions
before committing the underlying felony that qualifies them as a habitual felon.
District Attorney Andrew Murray thanks the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office for their
professional investigation and unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and property of
Henderson County residents.
