With off, and on overcast skies, on Saturday, the Hendersonville Honeycrisps men's collegiate baseball team took to the field, anxiously, ready for their very first pitch at
Berkeley Park, around 2:15PM. The opening day of the brand new team and mascot brought out hundreds showing their support and sportsmanship to this all American
kickoff event. The fun began on Saturday with "Fan Fest", which was just a prelude to the game. Food trucks, a live band, face painting, and other festivities were on hand for the celebration.
Kyle Aldridge Co-Owner, and this week's WHKP GREG Hometown Hero, stated that this is a great opportunity for 35 wonderful baseball players, from the southeast,
which is part of the old north state league, 15 teams, of college kids, stretched around NC, who will play 44 ball games, 24 here locally at the orchard, 20 on the road, then
the championship at some point later in the Summer, to follow. Come out and show your continued support to the brand new team, and mascot. After all we are very excited to have a baseball team designated to our listening area, it is the Hendersonville Honeycrisps.
