Hendersonville City Council approved the Walk Hendo plan.
The project focuses on where and how to make parts of the city safer for pedestrians. That includes linking sidewalks and greenways and making streets safer for people of all ages and abilities.
Consultants have identified several areas where people want to see safety improvements - including parts of South Church Street and South Main Street.
The project will be funded by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and the city. NCDOT will take on 90% of the cost.
