Sports lovers in the mountains will have a newly-renovated place to play.

A ribbon cutting took place for two newly-resurfaced tennis courts at Jackson Park in Henderson County on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

The work cost the county $275,000 and includes some stripes for pickleball, too.

Jackson Park offers other activities and facilities for people of all ages.

"They're used daily by all the citizens of Henderson County," Rebecca McCall, the chairman of the Henderson County Board of Commissioners, said. "Jackson Park is the first county park ever in Henderson County, and it's used all the time. It's probably the most used park in the state of North Carolina."

The two courts are used by Hendersonville High School and East Henderson High School for their regular season play. They're also used for tournaments.
