County and school leaders in Henderson County celebrated the completion of new security improvements at West Henderson High School.
The $5,000,000 project includes a more secure entry at the front entrance to the school and the front office.
There was also fencing added to secure the open courtyard spaces between buildings.
"The main reason for this project is to have some controlled entry and exit of the interior campus," Henderson County Manager John Mitchell said.
The school system said the improvements will allow students to change classes without having to leave a climatized environment.
They said the upgrades include 4 much-needed bathrooms.
