Monday, March 31 was the groundbreaking ceremony for a new sports complex in Henderson County.
The complex is coming to Berkeley Mills Park.
The project will add six tennis courts, four soccer fields, and a softball field to the park.
The historic Berkeley Mills Ballpark, which was built in 1946 is also being preserved.
The county manager tells us the park has been in the works for nearly 20 years.
“This could not have been accomplished without the good work of the city of Hendersonville, our partners at Henderson County public schools and the Henderson County commissioners worked on this for quite a long time," said Henderson County Manager John Mitchell.
The goal is that the project will be completed by September 2026.
