During the most recent Polk County Administrative Term of Superior Court which occurred on Tuesday,
October 22, 2024, Daryl Scott Jones, 55, a resident of Forest City, NC, pled guilty to Felony Fleeing to
Elude Arrest and to being a Habitual Offender. Pursuant to NC Law, the defendant must be convicted of
at least three separate prior felonies before reaching the status of being a habitual felon.

Pursuant to a plea agreement, Jones was sentenced to a minimum of 77 months and a maximum of 105 months,
announced R. Andrew Murray, District Attorney for Henderson, Polk, and Transylvania Counties. The
Honorable Resident Superior Court Judge Peter Knight sentenced the defendant.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is to be commended for their steadfast commitment to protecting the
citizens of Polk County and ensuring habitual offenders are held accountable for their criminal activity.
