Steve Scoggins, who has pastored Hendersonville's First Baptist Church for the longest period of time in Church history is retiring this weekend.
The church has planned a get-together at the church this Saturday afternoon at 2 PM to honor Steve, to which the public is invited.
Steve's final sermon as Senior pastor will be this Sunday.
Members of the church - with the largest congregation in Henderson County - on 5th Avenue and Washington Street, say they are very happy that Steve will continue to offer his services to the church in a variety of ways. He will also continue teaching at the Fruitland Bible Institute here in Hendersonville where he has taught for many years
Steve has also served as head of the Southern Baptist Convention.
