Dr. Michael "Mike" Charles Jones, Sr. Obituary
Dr. Michael “Mike” Charles Jones, Sr., 78, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at his home. A lifelong resident of Hendersonville, he was the son of the late Mary Cagle Jones and Spevines Rex Jones, Sr.

Born September 2, 1946, Mike, proudly grew up in East Flat Rock. As a young boy, he spent most of his time with his grandfather, brother, Rex, and cousins riding horses. As an adolescent and teenager, he often worked for his father at the family business.

Mike was a graduate of East Henderson High School in 1964. He continued his education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he graduated pre-med and completed four years of medical school. After finishing medical school, he completed 5 years of internship and residency at the Medical College of Georgia. In 1978, he joined the army where he served as a major at Fort McClellan Army base in Aniston, Alabama. Following, his time at Fort McClellan, Mike and his young family moved back to Hendersonville in 1980 where he established his medical practice as a general surgeon. Over the years, he had the incredible blessing of being partners with Dr. Charles Albers, Dr. Stuart Glassman, Dr. Doug Huntley, and Dr. Bob Morrow. Mike dedicated 30 years of his life as a surgeon caring deeply for each patient he encountered. He consistently went above and beyond to ensure their well-being and comfort. Mike approached everything with humility praying for his patients and deepening his faith throughout his career.

He loved spending time with his family. Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his family. More importantly than all of his accomplishments and the wonderful things about him, he lived his life for the glory of God. Mike was an active and devoted member of Hendersonville First Baptist Church. He knew his hope was in the saving work of Jesus Christ and the love he had for others came from the love he received from Christ. He has left his family with a beautiful legacy, pointing each of them to our good and gracious God.
