Donnie Jones was recognized and honored when County Commissioners named the all-inclusive playground in Jackson Park for him.
It's a MILLION DOLLAR HONOR according to those in attendance, numbering a couple hundred, last Saturday, including county commissioners and public officials along with Congressman Chuck Edwards. A number of these officials had 'speaking roles' at the event.
Henderson County and a number of local organizations and business firms put together some $973,000 to build this quite large and usable playground faciltiy in Jackson Partk.
Jones started the Special Needs Sports 13 years ago. He said the organization he formed taught him that kids are somewhat better at working things out than adults.
