Henderson County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating after a man’s body was found on Jan. 9 at a Mills River campsite.

The body of 36-year-old Jonathan Lalaonde was found at Wash Creek campsite No. 2 on Wash Creek Road, according to an incident report from the sheriff’s office. The report did not give an address for Lalaonde but showed his vehicle as having a New York license plate. Sheriff’s officers, along with U.S. Forest Service officials, responded to the campsite at about 11 a.m. Jan. 9 after Lalaonde’s body was found, according the report. Investigators are awaiting autopsy results in the case, which could take six to eight months.

The sheriff's office said to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation, no further details are being released at this time.
