Henderson County commissioners voted 3-2 Monday night to spend $9.5 million on a sportsplex at Berkeley Mills Park, rather than at the county owned facility, Jackson Park.

Plans for the new park will include soccer fields, a softball diamond and tennis courts.

The approving 3 votes came from Commissioners Bill Lapsley, Rebecca McCall and Michael Edney. The 2 no votes came from commissioners David Hill and Daniel Andreotta who were defeated earlier this year in their bid to return to the board for another term and in other recent commission votes created the same voting alliance.
