MET AT 5:45 PM THURSDAY IN COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT CITY HALL
Hendersonville City Council Thursday night made it possible for more homes to be built on the slopes on Sylvan Terrace. Local resident and home builder Chuck Anderson had requested a change in zoning to allow for high density...and that request made its way through the process and was approved Thursday night by city council.
City council also Thursday night approved a contract with the YMCA to manage the city-owned Patton Park pool this summer. The pool will open, as usual, Memorial Day weekend.
More and faster traffic, especially at school time and in school zones, on Hendersonville’s west side led Hendersonville police and school crossing guards to request a new high visibility crosswalk at the intersection of Highway 64 west and Valley Street.
NC DOT indicates that new crosswalk could be in place as soon as next week. Crossing guard supervisor Anita Lockhart and Capt. Bruce Simonds with Hendersonville Police, and Steve Cannon with NC DOT, were credited with expediting the new crosswalk.
