Annual Land O' Sky Garden Club Christmas Bazaar
Some holiday traditions never go out of style… like Christmas carols on a cold night, the hunt for the perfect tree, or cookies by the fireplace for Santa Claus! If a simpler Christmas sounds good to you, here’s a great way to usher in the season.
The Land O’ Sky Garden Club’s annual Christmas Bazaar is a welcome reprieve from the retail rigors of the holidays. This one-day-only event is a shopping delight for all and an opportunity for club members to contribute to the community. Each year, proceeds from the Bazaar provide scholarships for students and assistance to a variety of non-profit organizations in Hendersonville.
On Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 9am to 3pm, Hendersonville’s J&D Produce will be packed with a dazzling array of Christmas gifts and holiday décor. Included in the sale will be handmade wreaths that can be embellished on the spot, terracotta pots of Paperwhites and Amaryllis bulbs, artistic Yule Logs adorned with the fresh local greenery and baked holiday goods of every kind! This rain or shine event sells out fast and has long been a favorite fundraiser for members of the garden club.
“The Land O’ Sky Garden Club was founded in 1957,” says club president, Sallie Carr. “Since then, our members have contributed to the community through a wide range of activities, but it’s the Bazaar that holds a special place in our hearts. Since establishing a scholarship program with Blue Ridge Community College in 1998, we’ve raised more than $30,000 to support students interested in horticulture, landscape design and plant sciences. Not bad for some 30 local women who have a love of the outdoors and all things blooming!” Carr says club members spend months working on the Bazaar and an intensive week of baking, crafting, and arranging greenery in the days leading up to the event.
